.jpg) | Chad Campbell - Carewest Client Unable to walk at 635 pounds when he was first admitted, Chad Campbell, 36, was often seen making his way up and down the hill outside the care centre or lifting weights in the activities room. With a loss of 175 pounds in seven months as one of this most notable achievements, Chad has a lot to be thankful for. Read more.... |
 | John Newton - Carewest Resident When his championship-level tennis skills were taken by a stroke in 1996, John Newton decided to put away his racket. He moved to Carewest Dr. Vernon Fanning at the age of 58, after the left side of his body was paralyzed. But little did he know that his time on the court wasn't meant to end there. Read more.... |
 | Bette Bradley - Carewest Volunteer Bette Bradley never thought she would consider the end-of-life process beautiful. But today the 64-year-old Carewest volunteer says it's just that. Bette's own journey with the end-of-life process began in 1993 when she moved back hom from overseas to care for her mother, who had pancreatic cancer that had spread to her liver. Read more.... |
 | Bob Armstrong - Carewest Resident Bob Armstrong is a man of few words, but when he does speak, he makes sure it has meaning. Bob is a resident of Carewest Signal Pointe, home to 48 seniors with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. The Supportive Pathways program, developed by Carewest in 1996, was the first of it's kind in Calgary and has grown to be the provincial standard of dementia care training. Read more.... |
 | Piper Bernbaum - Carewest Volunteer Every week for three years, a special friendship has been cultivated among an unlikely pair: an 81-year-old war veteran and a 17-year-old high school student. Piper Bernbaum is a volunteer with Calgary's LINKages, a non-profit program that pairs students with seniors living in care centres.
